About
Kappa Sisterhood is for a Lifetime!
Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded on October 13, 1870, at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois.
It is a women's fraternity, as the word sorority was not coined until after our founding. Our six Founders were pioneers when they dared to march into its chapel, the most public part of the Monmouth College campus, wearing golden keys in their hair on October 13, 1870. The College Courier reported that the six were "on a voyage of discovery." Our fraternity has more than 140 active chapters on university and college campuses across the U. S. and Canada and has initiated more than 280,000 women. The six founding women started a lasting legacy of sisterhood.
The Dallas Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma was established in 1913. We have over 600 active members of all ages who meet to welcome others new to the community, to celebrate and support each other, and to support the community. Becoming a Kappa is truly Sisterhood for a Lifetime.
Our Founders Day Celebration
The Dallas Alumnae Association celebrates this historic event at our Founders Day Celebration, held in October annually; a day on which our Founders are remembered, our 25-, 50-, and 65-year Kappas are honored, and local Kappas who have made contributions to Kappa or our community are recognized. Founders Day is also a time for Kappa members of all generations come together in sisterhood and friendship.
